Why we do this

Climate change is increasingly recognized as one of the greatest health challenges of the 21st century. Its impacts are already being seen across healthcare systems through worsening air quality, heat-related illness, food insecurity, infectious diseases, extreme weather events, and climate-related displacement. At the same time, healthcare itself contributes significantly to global greenhouse gas emissions, highlighting the need for more sustainable approaches to care.

Despite the growing relevance of planetary health to clinical practice, climate-health education remains inconsistently integrated within medical training. Climate Wise was created to help bridge this gap by providing accessible, evidence-based educational resources that support the longitudinal integration of planetary health concepts throughout undergraduate medical education.

We believe future physicians should be equipped not only to understand the health impacts of climate change, but also to practice high-value, sustainable, and resilient healthcare in a changing world.
